hey new guy with a vrs from crawley, west sussex

Featured Replies

hey people, ive just signed up today. ive got a 2001 red skoda octavia vrs 1.8t 20v. its had a full piper rs exhaust system with a hi-flow sports cat, forge 007p recirculating dump valve, front mounted intercooler with solid boost pipes, black cupra r 18" wheels, lowering springs (not coil-overs, that will be soon)but sits very nicely, MG ZT rear spoiler which has been smoothed into the tail gate and colour coded front and rear trim stripes, side trim has been removed. overal its a fairly quick car. its limited to 140mph (at the moment) ;) and it produces 197.9BHP at the wheels. ive got a lot of plans for my vrs and i hope to get some advise from you guys aswell. my next big project will converting my vrs to 4x4 (considering everything will fit that is) but of course google wont tell you everything lol. thanks for reading guys. Grant :)

Welcome along, the vrs sounds nice! You'll find a lot of info on the forum :)

All the best.

Welcome to Briskoda!

To be honest it would be cheaper and easier to sell your VRS, buy a 4x4 and put the VRS bits on it than it would be to turn the VRS into a 4x4. The chassis, bodyshell and suspension is quite a bit different.

I take it it's not remapped yet? 197bhp is a very sound figure from just the exhaust and intercooler upgrades, with a good stage 2 remap it could kick out close to 230bhp.

thanks guys appreciated.yeh i had a feeling it might be a bit different. and cheaper too lol. ill still look into it though it would be cool if i managed to do it. thanks :) yeh it hasnt had a remap yet so when i went to the charity dyno event i was happy with that result. im looking at stage 2 map but with who is still the question. ive done some research and they say ideally with stage 2 you need forge diverter valve, fmic, hi flow exsaust (which i have all 3) then 4 bar fuel pressure regulator which im ordering. generally the basics so i should be ready to go soon. 230bhp would have fantastic. what was your vrs like?

Welcome.

I'm from just up the road in Reigate. Will keep an eye out for you when i'm driving around the Crawley area. B)

Yep thats all you need for stage 2. Better brakes and the various suspension mods (coilovers, anti-roll bar, etc) are pretty important too, no good running that kind of power if it won't stop or steer safely.

Mine had suspension upgrades but was still standard power-wise, did 189bhp on the dyno though so was in pretty good condition. Another member has it now and is remapping it in the spring

Hello gnewbs and welcome along
