Rear Brake Lights Flashing

Featured Replies

I have a Octavia II 1.9 TDI estate (05 plate). On a number of occasions recently the brake lights at the rear of the car flash in an apparent random pattern. Generally this if after I have left the car parked overnight or during the day when I am working. The engine is off and the doors are locked. Unlocking the car with the fob does not cure the issue but driving it seems to do the trick. Is there any explanation for this or am I looking at something like a dodgy earth?

Thanks

A few complaints on this, the cause was a dodgy brake light switch which is located just above the brake pedal.

Quite often the brake lights come on and stay on without the owner realising resulting in a flat battery.

The brake light switch has been replaced and everything seems fine now. Thanks for the help.
