Leaving the US

Featured Replies

Hello all,

My wife and I are moving to France from the USA later this year. I have been researching cars to buy, and as much as I'd like to stay with Subaru (I drive a WRX Wagon now), they are much more expensive in Europe than they are over here, and no diesels.

After much research, I have decided to purchase an Octavia Estate, 2.0, DSG, etc. I have heard rumours of a vRS diesel version, and would really like to get a 4x4 model. Do you think there will be a 4x4 with the DSG transmission? Or a vRS diesel with 4x4? (Estate, of course)

It seems like I'll have to order the car before we arrive in France, due to the production backlog, so if anyone has any info, or even some good guesses, I'd love to hear em! :)

Thanks for your time,

Will

Hello and Welcome:D

a very good choice of car,we have heard all the rumours but nothing is confirmed about what engine/engines are going to be in the new Octy vRS.

hopefully both to satisfy the broader market.

and i'm sure there will be a 4x4 with DSG,the Audi TT has it so no reason why the Octy won't.

good luck finding the right car

Good Choice, I went from an Impreza STI to an Octy 4x4 & have absolutely no regrets, the Octy needs a bit of work to get the performance up but now its a quicker car than the Scoob & easier to live with. as std the petrol is a mere 150 bhp but with a remap you are straight up to about 225, an Exhaust & intercooler will give about 250, some piccies of mine here

The Diesel at the moment unfortunately only comes as 105 bhp but this should remap to about 155 but with tons & tons of torque so it wont be a slouch, probably max at about 130 mph & yet still give 50-55 mpg when driven sensibly. The Petrol Octy will struggle to give 30 mpg on a run & I regularly see sub 20 mpg when worked hard !!

Diesel will definately be the choice for you if you are used to US fuel prices as its somewhat more expensive in Europe !!

Also as you will be getting a left hook car for mainland europe, the prices wil be cheaper that UK cars.

There will also be a slight difference of spec.

Thanks guys!

If my Scooby didn't get ~17 mpg, I'd consider bringing it over. Since I can't, I'm just going to have to live with a torque-monster of a diesel. I have heard that the DSG can only handle a certain amount of torque (can't remember the figure, at the moment) which makes remaps somewhat risky. Am I correct in this belief?

My WRX is remapped, very conservatively, but also modified in every other way. I'm looking forward to a much smoother ride from my future Octy, as my JDM spec suspension is way too bone-rattling for me! I'm thinking I won't modify the new car, but how many of us have said that before :D

welcome:)
