Console bush tools - Nottingham

Featured Replies

Hello,

Our 05 fabia vrs is starting to show her age a little, and amongst other things the console bushes have given up the ghost.

Was wondering if anybody out there has either bought a tool or had washers etc made to do the job, and wouldn't mind lending them to me for a weekend? Would gladly pay a deposit and buy some beers for anyone who could help out. Would like to buy a nice new tool to add to my collection, but bit strapped at the mo!

Cheers, Matt

It depends what bushes you go for. As I understand it the OE replacements and the newer 4-webbed OE replacements pretty much push in. Only the solid SEAT Cupra types are tougher to install. Mainly due to their casing being alloy rather than plastic. Lube plus care plus a reasonable amount of targeted force are needed to install those. There's also mention of a strap drive/puller needed to reseat the wishbone in the bush afterwards. Again, I've only heard of this with the Cupra bushes.

Thanks for your advice, spoke to seat and they mentioned the 2 different types. Will go for the plastic / easier to fit type, car standard and not driven by me most of the time.
