vRS Combi, Lowering Query

Featured Replies

Hi so as some of you may now I am still looking for my perfect Octavia vRS, I think I have finally found it, getting a call back tomorrow to confirm specs but sounds like a minter, Black Estate with 18 Zeniths only on its third service.

So I dont like they way they sit with that big gap round the arches, I was thinking Eibach lowering springs (20mm) but I have put them on previous cars and they claimed to lower it 30mm but once fitted and even let settle for a few weeks the hard work didnt seem worth it, but they were cheap and I know Eibachs are good quality.

Anyone testify that Eibachs drop the ride height 20mm? Also how is the new progressive handling? And how easy is it, anything I need to know?

I did have few problems in the past when lowering cars that the camber would be messed up and end up scrubbing tyres and wandering when overtaking etc,

How is the Octy once lowered, do I need to get the wheels aligned/camber angles set up correctly. (is the camber adjustable as standard) On my old forum (civinfo) they always talked about a Fast Road Set-up, anyone here heard of this or have it done to there car?

Hope all that makes sense, thanks for looking

I have eibach pro springs and koni fsd dampers. I would say 20mm is about the drop and just enough to make it look right. Some prefer a lower drop but I didn't want to go too low. You'll need four wheel alignment afterwards.

I had eibachs - the drop is minimal, 15 to 20mm or so. As the drop is so mild you can get away with keeping your OE dampers however is you want to improve ride or handling you should look as some better quality replacements.

You should not get any rubbing or other issue with these.

I ran mine with an early version of koni FSD dampers but i didn’t like that setup so that was removed. I now have weitec coilovers which I prefer for a number of reasons.

What you find with a lot of aftermarket stuff is that they post a “30mm” lowering statement or similar which is fine if you’re bolting these on an Elegance, but as the vRS is already 15mm lower then you won’t get the same drop.

Lots of stuff on suspension in my blog (and also on this forum if you use the search).
