Remapped?

Featured Replies

Is there any way to tell using the VAG software whether your car has been remapped or chipped??

Samuel

If you have a registered version of VAG-Com and can do logging, log block 115 (actual vs requested boost) and if the requested boost figures are peaking way above 1700-1800 (10-11psi) then I'd suspect a remap.

Or simpler idea - contact the previous owner. They should really tell you when selling a car on if it's been remapped as the insurers need to know.

Previous owner reckons nothing has been done to the car. But I'm getting a bit suspicious. He was running a MAF without any hot wire at all....why would you be running a Bosch MAF with no hotwire?? I heard you could have the MAF readings mapped into the ECU. I will see how it runs when I have replaced the MAF with a hotwire one, but at the moment I am running without the MAF because it was being a bit hesitant when connected up(even though its actually not doing anything, how can it without a hotwire element???), I have had it disconnected now for weeks and the car runs beautiful and pulls hard.

I'd just stick the new MAF on and see how it goes.

You can run without a MAF and you can get custom maps made which replace the standard default MAF values with different ones to up the performance (a few people in the States do it) but in both cases the fuel economy can suffer.
