Service Indicator

Featured Replies

Well the dealers have done it again, 9000 miles after my variable service the service indicator has come on. This is the second time the same garage have reset the vehicle to fixed servicing without asking me. When it happened at the previous service they came clean and were given the beniefit of doubt that it was just a mistake, however I'm now wondering if they just don't bother checking whether it's on variable or fixed servicing and just reset to fixed regardless (I did have to get them to fill in the service book correctly as well as they had put the info down as if it was a fixed service - fortunately i know from the invoice that the correct parts/oil etc. were used).

So rather than taking it back to be reset to variable and as I now have VCDS how do I change the service interval from fixed to variable?

I assume that this can be changed without resetting the interval milleage as I obviously want it to work out the variable interval from 9000 miles ago which is what the garage did last time?

Thanks for any help.

This happened to me. If they re-set the service indicator via the dashboard then it reverts to annual. To re-set the variable service you have to plug in a laptop to the OBDI port.

Just wondered where the setting is in VCDS and if this can be done without resetting the interval as I want to go back onto variable but taking into account the last 9k miles.

You can reset the dash one, by pushing down the trip button with ignition off. Turn ignition to on position, with button still pressed down. Release button then turn to right.
