Gunk build uP in filler cap

Featured Replies

So I recently purchased my 57 plate Octavia VRs petrol and had been checking the oil the other day which is fine . And just for being nosey I unscrewed the filler cap and it was caked in some of cream coloured gunge and the area below it was also the same . Cars running fine no water or oil loss . Cleaned the stuff out but noticed some has returned . It smells of petrol what ever it is . Any ideas ?

Sorry if this has been asked before

Thanks in advance David

Generally that sounds like headgasket, but it could be something else i dont know, hope it helps

If you do low mileage with short trips this can happen from condensation, so dont panic just yet.
