Exhaust warning light on. Not the DPF one

Featured Replies

Oh dear, an hour ago the warning light came on for the exhaust, it's gone onto a sort of limp mode and was only ten mins from Claybank Motors Manchester so I've left it with them.

Any ideas folks on possible causes, it's a July 2009 170CR Dsg with 27000 miles on it. Supposed to be towing my caravan on our first holiday with this car that I got 5 weeks or so ago. Any help appreciated.

Cheers Robert.

Forgot to state my holiday starts Tuesday and I've searched for Control System For Exhaust on briskoda but can't find anything relevant to the Superb.

A pure guess, but I would think its a dodgy sensor along the exhaust. I've had what sounds like the same happen to me on my Vectra (150ps CDTi) when it quite new.

I hope Claybank sort it, I bought my car from them so it would be nice to hear positive feedback on them... wish you the very best of luck!

Thanks Stef, I'm hoping all will be sorted under warranty but I've had to sign an authority form for them before they can investigate @ £75 per hour plus 20%vat. Certainly not suggesting that's a rip off its just a lot of dosh to me. Now I'm home I've found a previous post where the chap called Skoda Assist and it was all sorted on his driveway with a minimum of fuss. Hope to get some feedback from claybank tomoz.

It should be reasonably straightforward for the engine control unit to tell them what it's complaining about. They call it the exhaust system warning but most cars refer to it as the emissions control system warning lamp, or check engine lamp. Could be any one of a number of things, but as I say there should be a fault code that tells them the problem.

Hmmm, sounds somewhat cheeky to me, especially as its a new car & effectively you're making a warranty claim.

I recently took mine to Lookers in Stockport as they are a bit closer to me for a couple of minor warranty things and all checked one day & then fixed the following week. Fortunately my car was not "out of action" but I was most certainly not asked to sign any agreement to accept potential costs.

I agree with you, it should & I expect it will all be sorted under warranty just a rather odd attitude for a 5 week old car as its unlikely to be your fault.... as I trust you haven't plonked its belly on any lumps or bumps.

Fingers crossed....

Update:

Had a call from Claybank this morning the fault is an Exhaust pressure sensor, the part has been ordered and will be fitted tomoz, I can collect at 12:30 all done under warranty so panic over. So I can give a thumbs up to Claybank. I arrived unannounced yesterday afternoon, they diagnosed it today and will fix it tomoz under warranty. I can't ask for more.

Thanks all for the advice/support.
