Could anyone help me please.

I have an 08 Skoda Octavia 1.6 FSI Ambiante.

Shortly after I got the car it started to develop a rattle which appears to be getting worse.

The rattle comes at around 1500 - 1600 revs in any gear when the car is slowing down and stops around 1200 revs ish.

It only rattles when slowing down, so when the rattle starts if i press the accelorator even a little it stops and starts again when i take my foot off the pedal. same agian with the clutch I can press the clutch and it stops release and it starts again.

I took it back to the skoda dealership while it was under warranty who told me that it did not cover ratles but was happy to charge me £80 an hour until they find the problem, but promissed they would stop at a £1000 if thy had found nothing.

We agree to have one hour of them looking for the problem, they said they had re-tied a loose cable and took my £80, this did not stop the rattle.

For the sake of my sanity the rattle need to stop, so I am going to have to take it back to the garage, but if anyone had had this specific problem or knew of what caused it I would be very grateful.

It stopped when you pressed the clutch pedal and came back when you released it?

Could be the clutch release bearing.
