Skoda VRS engine failure

Featured Replies

Sorry about this but not mechanically minded. My 06 Octavia VRS engine needs a rebuild. Rocker arm failed and valves hit pistons requiring new cylinder head etc. quoted just over 4k for an exchange engine. Problem is had at from new and only done 24000 miles and has a full service history!! Skoda saying no as over 5years. Their warranty 5 years or 100000 miles. Thing is that kind of failure shouldn't happen in car with so low mileage. Anyone come across this before and any ideas to get Skoda to contribute or ways to lower cost. Quote was from main dealer hence expensive!!! Cheers

Do Skoda not have some sort of UK Customer Service centre? I thought they would at least give some goodwill towards it e.g. the parts and ou just pay the labour especially at that mileage.

Skoda at moment saying a big no. Using over 5 year excuse. Part failure linked to miles done not age. Shouldn't happen for under 25,000 miles.

Welcome along - that's an unfortunate problem, is there a local dealer who you know who could assist in the warranty claim? Keep pestering with Skoda UK.

Cheers for the advice. Local dealer has tried but no joy hence I went direct to Skoda UK direct

I'd ask at the local CAB - a car engine should last a reasonable period if it has been properly serviced. I would say if you can show it has been properly serviced, you would have a good claim.

You may have to prove the fault was present at the time of purchase though. And that could be difficult. It would cost £25 to take Sloda through the small claims system to get the cost of repairing it back. What have you got to lose?

Do it! :)
