Ride shakes on acceleration

Featured Replies

Hi! :)

My Roomster rattles and shakes when I hit the accelerator.

I feel it especially in the floor and steering wheel.

I have balanced the front wheels at a garage.

Can it be the rear wheels who need balancing or can it be something in the front suspension?

Does the shaking/rattling depend on gear you are in?

Does not have to be suspension problem, could also be engine problem, e.g. engine mount or MAF sensor.

Update:

It shakes when not pressing the accelerator also, but it gets greatly improved when I do.

There is no difference witch gear I am in. The shaking does not go away if I press in the clutch.

If you have a failed shock absorber (damper) it could cause this - push each corner of the car down hard and release quickly - it should rise and fall just once - if it keeps bouncing up and down you have a failed shock absorber.

Check CV joints and bearing, basically if wheels rotate freely and without wobble with the wheels off ground.
