Wheeled Axle Stands

Featured Replies

Strange one this!

Space is tight in my garage. I have a small Erde camping trailer in which I store all of our associated camping gear so it's fully loaded.

To avoid damaging/flat spotting the tyres I support the axle with a pair of axle stands raising the wheels a couple of inches off the floor.

However I have other 'stuff' stored around the garge which I need to get to from time to time. Moving the trailer around the garage isn't a major pain as I simply lift it off the axle stands with a trolley jack and wheel it to the other end of the garage etc.

The thing is although it's not a major pain I'd much prefer it if I could move it without having to drop it down off the axle stands every time. If only the axle stands had casters or wheels on them!

Now I know having axle stands that can roll around very much defeats the object and would make them inherently unsafe when used for their primary purpose but I can't think of another way to solve my issue!

I've seen these dolley's but this then means the weight of the trailer and it's contents is resting back on the tyres.

Any ideas or should I just store the trolley jack permanently under the trailer!?

Hmm, just found these, the only dimensions they give is 180mm diameter and 60mm high which sounds quite small.

I've measured the feet on my axle stands and they are exactly 180mm apart, coincidence?

For £23 I can get four of them so could put one under the support leg behind the hitch too and have full mobility!?
