cat removal on vrs mk1

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, Id like to know if removing the catalytic from a stadard vRS mk1 will light up the check engine light and also does it reduce the life of the lambda sensor since it will take longer to warm up due to cat removal?

Yes it will put light on as it has 2 probes, pre cat and post cat.

Lamba probes have there own heating elements built into them thats why they have more than one wire to them

i had my second probe mapped out when i had my car remapped so i can run a decat with no warning lights

think most people would not bother removing the cat if your still retaining your std downpipe as this is the main restriction not the cat

Not quite true the std Cat is still restrictive.

However Downpipe is poorly made and amll and lots of bends in it.

Think the OP means remove bought as it is a one piece unit so makes no sense to cut out cat or downpipe, eiether get a Decat pipe or a sports cat that has a Cell 200 Cat with it.

Also not all cars get cell light with Cat removed my don't, although it gets Cell for SAI removed:(
