Central Locking Issues

Featured Replies

Hi lads,

Went out the other day to discover my car's battery dead. Must have left the lights on by accident or something.

Ever since the central locking has been acting strange. One of the keys doesn't work at all, and the spare key works maybe 4 or 5 times before it stops working for a while.

I've never had any problems with the locking before the battery went flat.

The key barely goes into the drivers side door lock either.

Any ideas?

Anybody?

The batt might be dead in the key?

If it works 5-6 times then doesnt work then i would think it was that, once you have opened/cloesed your car the 5-6 time and it stops working then hold the key to your head and try again a few times and if it works then it is the batt in the key (i no it sounds mad but it works).

Both keys were working fine before the battery in the car went. I just went out and tried both and nothing happened.

I could go out later and one of them will work fine. Don't understand it at all

Try and synchronise yor key's

How to code a new remote without using VAGCOM

How to synchronise a new remote keyfobs

You’ll need two keys to do this

1. Place your first key into the ignition and turn to the second notch (do not start the car)

2. Now close the door and place your second key into the handle lock

3. Turn the key to the lock position and let it spring back to the central position.

4. Hold down the Lock button on your new remote, you may hear a bleep from the car

5. Now unlock the car using the key in the barrel and remove, then take your first key out of the ignition

6. Close the door

7. Your remote should now be coded
