Today I saw a tidy 55 plate Octavia, 87k, full service history (Skoda main dealer) and MOT check from DVLA.

It was a 2.0L TDI Ambiente, and I was more than satisfied with its 140 BHP. Then I noticed it did not have alloy wheels. Surely only the base model classic has steel wheels? Can anyone confirm.

Secondly, since this engine is the same as the one fitted to the Passat, which recently had a recall for injector problems, presumably the Skoda's also had a recall. Can anyone confirm??

Advice much appreciated.

Well I can now answer this myself

Only the Classic had steel wheels, so the car I went to see had been messed with and the wheels substituted or sold. Pity it was quite a good one otherwise.

As regards the injectors, according to a Skoda main dealer, SOME 2.0L TDi Skodas were affected others not. The one I went to see was not affected by the recall.

So there we are

Steel wheels on an Ambiente!

I can't understand why they would do that and would be more worried about what else has been 'substituted' and intrieged by it's history......

Hmmm - run away.
