TFSI Cambelt replacement procedure.

Featured Replies

Whilst my car was getting mot'd today i had a look in their autodata cambelt replacement manual & it says that the exhaust front pipe req disconnecting from the turbo & the driveshafts req disconnecting from the gearbox to replace the cambelt!Iknow you have to support the engine & remove the mounting. Has anybody (vag techs) on here who have replaced a tfsi cambelt actually done this? Im going to do this job soon & just wondered if this really needed doing? thanks Mike.

All I tend to do is take off the dog bone and that allows the engine to swing enough to get the mounting out. Just be careful that you don't pull the driveshaft out of the joint on the n/s, seen it happen (although not to me). Once the mounting is out the actual cambelt itself is pretty easy. There is one T30 cover bolt at the back that is a little tricky so watch for that.
