Time for regural service,couple q

Featured Replies

Hello people like always I have couple of questions for you.

It is time, when my Superb need regular service, and couple of mechanics told me different information.

Some of them claim that for my motor(2.5 TDI, 114 kw) best oil is Castrol 5W30, and some of them tell me that is better Castrol 5W40.

Now I dont know what to do, I want for my car best, and I dont wont to buy cheap oil(5w40 is cheapier)and than regret.

What you fellas thinking, and do you have some advice for me?

Oh yes and if you think that there is better oil than Castrol pls dont hesitate to share it with me.

Second question is: how hard is to dyi regural service on our cars?

Money isnt problem, but I like to maintain my car, and it makes me happy. Could I find somewhere how DYI regural service?

As always gratefull, cheers :)

5W40 505.01 is probably best. 30W oil will result in slightly lower fuel consumption and can last longer (that is why it is specced for variable service intervals), but for these engines what you need to look out for is camlobe/camshaft wear.

I have been using 5W40 for many years now, full synthetic, 505.00/505.01 Engine only uses small amounts of oil (0.3l / 1000mile) above 120mph or 28degC, as it always did, also when new.

quantum platignum is the stuff 505.01 5w40 fully. Edge is very expensive and very good, but this stuff from dealer if you wangle a discount should be under £30 for 5l

Ok, milion thanx!!!!Best forum in the world, with best members!

So I will buy 5w40 Castrol/Edge.

As I remember it in our car may put 5,6 L oil right?

And do you advice me to buy OEM Skoda filters or some other brand like(I dont know, maybe Champion, atc)?

I think I will stick to OEM filters, but I would like to know do you buy OEM or not?

Tnx so much for fast replys.
