For Sale: Fabia VRS Red '04 -

Featured Replies

Mrs Pasty will blow her top when she sees this but I'm thinking of parting with the red VRS.

The car has been truly fantastic in my 4 years and 80k miles of ownership.

In fact ownership has been good enough to convince me to buy the a 2nd VRS earlier in the year and its only pie in the sky plans that have prompted the thoughts of selling up.

So to the normal bits

  • The car has all the VRS standard kit (electric mirrors, electric front windows, grey seats, etc etc) plus factory fit cruise control
  • It has covered 124,000 ish miles and been regularly serviced around every 10k with cam belts being changed at 60k and just after 120k all done by my tame VW master tech cousin.
  • MOT runs until next August
  • Tax (is due at the end of the month although i'll probably put 12 months on it before it runs out.

The additional bits

  • Jabbasport custom remap to 177bhp (following fitment of PD160 intake)
  • Jabbasport rear anti-roll bar
  • Seat Sport front strut brace
  • Seat Ibiza Cupra solid wishbone bushes
  • Audi TT 312mm front brakes
  • Gold BBS Montreal2 Alloys
  • LCR Splitter
  • Dull small stuff like aero wipers, Philips blue vision dip and sidelight bulbs, Osram Nightbreaker main beam bulbs

The maintenance bits

Given the cars age I've gone through a bit of a process of refreshing things of late

  • The headlights were replaced due to going yellow and milky
  • The suspension has been swapped to some from a donor with half the miles on (60k rather than 120k) so the ride is back to relative suppleness.
  • The EGR valve which has weeped oily gunk for a couple of years has been replaced with a fresh one.
  • The brake discs and pads have been replaced all round less than 5000 miles ago - ferodo discs & pads at the rear, ferodo pads and pagid discs for the 312s
  • 3 new tyres less than 10k ago with the 4th being a long surviving rear tyre which has equal wear to the 3 new ones - Pirelli P Zero Nero x 2 & Uniroyal Rainsport2 x 2

The bad bits

  • After 130k Unit18 stated that the original KKK turbo "is a bit whistley" following a road test after the fitment of the suspension and brakes. I've noticed no drop in performance nor other symptoms to worry about however as a precaution I have purchased another KKK turbo with just 60k under its prop ready for if the worst does happen - this could be included in the sale for an additional cost.
  • The air conditioning has called it a day - Local specialists have blamed a sheared clutch shaft in the compressor as while the belt and pulley turn, the compressor they are attached to does not.
  • Some old biddy used the rear 3/4 panel as a parking aid and has creased just below and behind the fuel filler. The damage is relatively light and would probably pop right out with gentle persuasion I've just not been that bothered by it.

Those 3 above things are genuinely the only real negatives I can level at the car.

In over 80,000 miles including many many dual carriage way/motorway miles, 2 full track days, a morning track event at Bedford and half a dozen of the 15 minute sessions at Combe the car has never spent a day off the road.

The only blot on its impeccable record was a trip into limp mode on track at Combe earlier in the month and, due to me not getting the fault cleared on the day, a dash full of warnings the following day.

The interior is looking pretty dirty at present (again due to me not really being that worried) but the lovely seats will get a full clean if it sells. I might also treat the exterior to another coat of wax ;)

As per the opening statement if it wasn't for stupid pie in the sky plans (both mine and Jonny5ive's) this thread woudl not exist. I have loved the car since buying it and the recent work to refresh aging components have served to renew that.

I've probably missed some bits but any questions just ask (although when the other half sees this may not live to answer them) and if you want any more pictures by all means let me know.

Ideally i'd be looking for £3850 ono and an additional £150 for the turbo

Oh and if the gold wheels put you off I could be tempted by a pile of cash to swap them for the standard wheels on Mrs Pasty's black car.

Given that she HATES the gold wheels though the pile would have to be large enough to allow me to by a replacement set of something immediately ;)

Also just remembered that the car only has one key.

Doubt it will be a deal breaker but good to mention

The post sale plans have ground to a halt so not I'm not really looking to sell anymore.

That said (as another thread quoted) anything is for sale if the price is right...
