Remote boot pop

Featured Replies

Hi,

Was looking at gas struts for my boot and I stumbled across this:

http://www.seatcupra...ad.php?t=330080

I know theres a massive thread before about using springs to get the initial oomph but I wonder if changing the rubber bung plus longer strut will make a difference..

Longer rubber bung will propel the initial reaction better so hopefully it kicks the strut into action.

Longer strut is for the initial momentum to come in sooner, I know original strut takes a good few cms before anything happens.

Anyway, I've bought one 500mm strut to test (original is 440). Not sure if it'll fit but I have other uses for it if not :)

Having trouble finding the bumpers - they're not on the bay..

"2 x 1K8 827 761? C (Scirocco bumpers) ". Apparently its been superseded by - 1K8827761D

I'll pop to ECP or the dealers sometime and see what they cost. Shouldn't be too much if an american site is selling it for $5 a piece.

Edit: Little more digging, feel we're missing out a little here.. leons, golfs, polos, jettas, sciroccos.. all using the same method but I don't see any fabias.. Surely the fabia boot isn't that heavy..

" 1K8 827 761 D = £4.54 each (original 1K8 827 761 C now superseded)" [from 2011] - Right, im going to find some and hopefully they haven't gone up by 200% like the pd160 mod :giggle:

Oooh please post up if you get this working as it would be really handy to do this :)

Was thinking about this recently.

Keep us posted :)
