Automatic Gearbox Diagnostic

Featured Replies

I want to get my automatic gearbox checked but I'm not sure where to take it.

There might not be anything wrong with it - it shifts smoothly, kicks down ok but at low speeds there isn't enough 'direct drive' for my liking.

I spoke to the local dealer and they've quoted me £54 for a diagnostic only, which seems a bit heavy. The senior engineer said it could be a problem with the gearbox ecu under the drivers floor but I'm not convinced.

I had the oil and filter changed about 15k miles ago (car has 55k up) and I'm wondering if the indie I used put the correct fluid in. Dealer wants £180 for oil and filter change.

What I really want is someone knowledable who'll do a diagnostic for a reasonable price and drive the car then give me an honest opinion.

Does anyone know such a firm in South Wales that they can recommend?

Can travel for the right service if necessary. There seems to be a lot of so called specialists out there and I'm a bit worried that something this specialised is dealt with properly by someone with the right knowledge.

Thanks

J

There's a place in Swansea did a oil swap on my dads sharan after changes got clunky 50k latter still all good . They also did a swap on our last b5 superb . I'll see if I can find their number / name . But it doesn't sound that bad if she is shifting / down shifting without being harsh
