I thought the older ones had AP (or Brembo, someone decent) brakes as standard. More corner cutting by VAG?

Yeah the mk4 had ap racing 4 pots as standard.

Ill possibly be new car shopping spring/summer next year so a few test drives will be in order! The new clio RS looks pretty interesting too and in direct competition with a dsg style box and smaller engine.
