Last night my mate came down the garage to see me. He has the same year Octy as me but its the Elegance model. He opened his door and I noticed the puddle lights on his door mirrors come on. I joked with him to say I was jealous he's got them and I haven't :(

I've got the Ambiente model so my question is can these be activated on my car? Or will I need anything more than this?

I have searched the forum but can't find a definitive answer.

The indicator units on the mirrors are different I'm afraid. So you'd need these, and also possibly alter the wiring to the mirrors. Not sure if the loom on all Octys is specced for them as standard.
