Octavia VRS pre-FL cruise retrofit

Featured Replies

Hi

I am looking to retrofit cruise to my early 2006 VRS. I was wondering if anyone can recommend any good places that do it in the Surrey area and what sort of price i should be looking at? I have had one quote from a place that will come to me but that was £215. I was hoping to be able to get it done for nearer the £150 mark.

Also, i understand that the car may not have the correct steering wheel controller but i don't know if there is an easy way to find out. The car has the maxidot display so does this indicate the controller should be ok?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

JT

Prices are ok, I've seen higher

Obviously if your car has the wrong controller that puts the price up by a lot.

Most cars that I have fitted cruise to have had the right controller, so you are probably ok

Have you considered getting a used stalk, fitting it yourself and getting a local Briskodian with VCDs to code it for you?

I did mine in about 1.5 hours (playing safe) and I'm no mechanic, but I do have VCDS. I didn't need to change the steering controller.

I know one Skoda mechanic who does this outside of work and did the whole thing in less than 30 mins and that included changing the steering controller and recoding that as well.

If you were closer to Herefordshire, I'd do it for you.

Is it defo just the stalk you need assuming the correct steering controller is there? Thinking about cruise retro fit on my Golf, it didn't come with it believe it or not.

2006 and earlier Octavias (I think that's correct) needed a small wiring loom to go near the controller and stalk area.

Post 2010 Octavias (again, that is not B&W) have a different stalk arrangement and need more parts to be replaced.

If you are in the middle, then 'yes' it's just the satlk and some coding to activate it in the steering controller and engine modules.
