Car wash (to wash it my self?)

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I am looking for a car wash that I can take my car there, they provide pretty much everything like a water gun etc and I do the wash my self. Does anyone know what am I talking about? Are there any places like that somewhere around south West London?

Petrol station jet wash?? Take your own wheel cleaner etc

i have aways taken pride in looking after my cars ie washing and waxing. but the local car hand wash people charge a fiver to wash and ten pound to clean inside and out they do a first class job even to the point of putting air fresheners in the car when finished. no more washing for me.so if i was you you find one of these car washes and give them a go

Get your own kit. I bet the products these 'five quid' places use are pretty harsh and eventually will degrade the wheels...paint.

I have my own kit but I am not allowed to wash the car where I live.

I used to 'trust' a car wash but then my front right light brow broke but it wasnt them - it was the wind probably...., the paint of my previous wheels came off reaaaally badly. So I want to go there, basically use their space and equipment with my own products (AutoGlym all the way).

Not generally heard of any specific places, although I know some washes places which advertise using AutoGlym products and trade as such.

`i have checked the products they use they are all ok for the wheels and paintwork you only have to ask i must admit that was a concern but its all good i took the wifes car in first just to be on the safe side. the guy i spoke to was more than keen to show me what they use and understood my concern.

I've been told this as well.

Where I live there are loads of similar places to the above. Usually take over redundant petrol stations. I used to use them but then started looking into detailing. I then realised they use a big mit but use it to wash the whole car without rinsing! A massive no no for car washing. All the dirt from the last 5 cars and yours scratching your paint! Chemicals also seem harsh. If you want to look after your paint get 2 buckets with grit guards and some decent shampoo :-). If your not too bothered about your paint then the £5 car washes are fine.

Last time I got site of a sample of their kit; sponges, chamois, etc. I was horrified. Never be back.

I was told that there is a place like the one I am looking for in Mitcham and Sutton, anybody knows where they are?

Most bp garages have a jet wash that you pay a £1 for 3.5 minute type car wash in them. Easy way to wash it yourself. Just take your own wheel cleaner and maybe wash mit and just use their jet was.
