Cold air entering the cabin front passenger footwell

Featured Replies

On my way into work this morning 0600 hrs and -4 degress i noticed very cold air entering the front passenger footwell. Once car was up to temperture and heater going full blast still noticed cold air entering just by the right handside of the glove box. If you placed your hand to the right side of the glove box lid with enter the fan or off made no difference. It was quite bad enough so that a passenger would of been very uncomfortable. The glove box and arm rest are both fitted with a vent to aloow cold air into these areas to use as a chiller. However both were closed. On the journey home about 2 degress slighty better but not by much. I have never noticed this before has anyone else had a similiar problem.

Booked into garage next Tuesday for this , wind noise n/f/s window and auto rear view mirror not working correctly.

I'd say the air pipe into the glove box has popped off. It's dead easy to drop the glove box and check it. There's like 6 screws from memory?

Thanks will give it a go .

Is the pollen filter housing sealed properly. If someone removed the pollen filter and left it empty to improve airflow through the vents, it will not seal closed properly and will cause cold air from the outside to come directly into the passenger footwell.

Ah, yeah. Actually that's more likely.

Plus the heater isn't all that brilliant at low temps. When the engine is fully warm, and the fan on full, your shins burn and your feet freeze. I'm not sure how folk from colder climes manage - perhaps they are just hard!

Thanks for all the advice will drop off the glove box and check it out before it goes into the garage. It is a seperate issue to the heater and the cold air is ambient outside temp and stays the same regardless of the heater system.

When you drop the glove box, besides the screws underneath, there is one behind the prise off panel on side of the dash, accessible when you've got the passenger door open. You can remove that panel just with finger nails.

I have exactly same problem on new blackline post just below yours. Let me know how you go on.
