VRS clutch

Featured Replies

Hi, just upgraded to stage 2, my clutch is slipping and am getting a new 1 this week,

Stage 2 is not enough and I'm wanting more, how much power will a standard clutch take, and is an upgrade recommended and what !

Not from experience but I have been recommended to install a solid G60 or ABF flywheel and a VR6 clutch. It is seen as the best off the shelf solution without going to 'performance' clutches

Is that a straight swap, and could u go into more detail, type of car, year of car and cost, I'm looking at pricing all this ASAP

Thanks !

I Believe it's a straight swap apart from the length of the flywheel bolts. flywheel from a mk3 2.0 ABF 16v Golf and the clutch can be from a 2.8 VR6 mk3.

Please don't go and order parts based on this info and wait for somebody who has actually done it to confirm anything else needed etc.

Cheapest place to get the flywheel is scrapyard. It's solid so doesn't wear or get worse with age etc. budget say £45 for that and it is around £100-150 for clutch depending on manufacturer. Much cheaper than renewing the standard.

Thanks for all the info, but i'm looking for something that'll take 270-280 bhp

In that case still go ahead with the flywheel, flywheel bolts and coverplate bolts. But instead of a standard VR6 clutch kit, get an uprated VR6 kit. Loads of options about.
