Engine noise 1.2ltr after having shim fitted.

Featured Replies

I am hoping somebody can offer me some assistance? I have recently had the 15000km service done on my 1.2ltr Yeti. The Skoda service centre also completed the turbo shim campaign, but ever since this shim has been fitted I have noticed what can be best described as a pressure relief noise coming from the engine when the car is switched off. The noise kinda sounds like, shhh, shhh, shhh and gets quiter until it fades away, and this takes about 10 seconds. I cannot recall the noise being audible before the shim fitment so can only think that something has not been done right. Has anyone else had this issue or have heard of it happening before? I have searched the threads and cannot seem to find anything about it. I have he car going back to the dealer service in another 3 weeks but after calling them with my concerns they say they have never heard anything like this before and I am concerned that they will want to just fob it of as normal, which I know it isn't.

Car seems to be driving as normal, except for this noise on shut down.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome,

apologies cannot definitively help, other than to say the shim is actually fitted to the turbo waste gate electronic actuator, rather than the turbo itself. Also includes an update to the ECU software, which after having issues with our previous Fabia TSI following the same update, can confirm Skoda UK anyway consider it normal for possible poor running for up to 500 miles after, as the ECU goes through a relearning process.

Hope of help,

TP

Thanks TP, I was thinking it may have something to do with the pressure build up, and the waste gate is doing its job. Anyway fingers crossed it rectifies itself, as I have done almost 700km since fitment. Does anyone have any further ideas? Might have to wait until my dealer visit. :-(
