I've an 2012 Octavia VRS on 18" Neptunes.

After the brief bit of snow I'm now seeing benefit in getting some winter tyres.

I'm looking at options including mytyees etc

One option I'm looking at is picking up a cheap set of rims and then getting the tyres seperately.

Will VAG rims of the filling spec be any good

It's the last 2 I'm not too sure about.

I don't know the offset of the Neptunes, but I'd not use a 7 inch rim with anything narrower than a 185 tyre, if that helps.

They should fit fine (Although it would be good if someone with a VRS could confirm they will fit over the larger breaks OK)

Your Neptunes will be 7.5j and ET51 (Offset) IIRC

Thanks both. I was looking at 205's if I did. Will post on Octy forum to see if anyone already has this set up, although have read that 16's do go over the brakes.
