Rear wheel alignment

Featured Replies

Hi all,yes i am still a proud Octavia owner.

Around 6 months ago i found that my rear tyres were destroyed due to incorrect camber and toe settings(heavy wear on the inner edge of both tyres)

So i had the rear tyres replaced and a full alignment done, but the rear tyres are wearing in the same way.

So,my question is has anyone found the source of this issue which has plagued most Octavia owners?

Worn bushes perhaps?

I've had the same problem on mine, the 1st set of read tyres were shagged at 40k,(inner tread was gone) probs b4 but i didnt check, had them replaced and the 4 wheel alignment done, then found after only 10k the back end was sliding alot, checked the tyres and the outer tread had gone, took it back to ATS for new tyres and alignment doing again. I guess the 1st guy over adjusted, so far so good, apparently they set the alignment with the car in the air b4 it leaves the factory, then a few months down the road they settle in and it wel out of whack. Thankfully mine is a company car or i'd have been plenty miffed at having to have a 3rd set or rear tyres.

I had that problem and the dealer did the rear alignment twice. Immediate difference in mpg as tank normally got 480 but as soon as dealer touched it the miles per tank went down to 400.

I then got a 4 wheel alignment done at CLCM in Edinburgh and the miles per tank went up to 480 - 500. That was a couple of years ago and not had rears wearing since.

My advice is take it to a specialist.

Cheers

Dave
