Sidelight bulb problem

Featured Replies

Hi guys, came to fit some LED bulbs tonight and when I put them in they didn't work and I couldn't get them to work -.- went to put my standard side lights back in and now they won't work, is there a certain position they have to be in or could I have blown a fuse? Thanks .

If the original bulbs are no longer working as described there is a high chance it's just a blown fuse. The LED bulbs will be polarity specific so if they don't work first time, spin them around 180 so the contacts are on the opposite sides and try again.

Fuses 33 and 34 are the ones to check if I remember correctly.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks a lot dude, now the silly question, where's the fuse box? I'm a new owner so not really clued up as of yet I'm afraid ! LOL

Open the drivers side door, on the end of the dash is a cover, remove it and you'll see fuses :)

No worries! Welcome to the forum :) Open the drivers side door, at the end of the dash there is a panel that you have to pop off. The fuses are behind there.

If you look closely there is a little cut out on the panel which is the perfect size for your key/ screwdriver to fit, just gently ease it off.

What he said! ^^^ Ha

Thanks a lot guys will get it sorted in the morning ! :)

Before you rush to thinking its the fuse, check my own experience.

I looked at mine today, wasnt working with the new bulbs after a trip (only fitted y/day and sure they were working when I first fitted them)

Not the fuse....the originals worked ok in my car once put back.

I left the circuit on despite my better interest, and checked what happened put the LED in...it was very intermittent wanting to come on to be honest. Once pushed firmly in it was actually stopping them working.

It would come on initially on the very first part of connection as you are pushing the LED body in (most/part of the time at least)....but now the bulbs are going out once fully pushed home

So the electrical connection is very poor....or the internals of the LED are ****e or poor tolerance. Not sure but the stock OEM bulbs work fine, have you tried them.

Might do such checks with digital calipers later, see what the difference could be

Also one of these "£3" delivered LEDs has a rattle, and the wire is definitely moving up and down into the LED housing itself....and this is one of the better looking construction of LEDS too !

Bear in mind the OEM are glass sealed, doubt there is much chance the wires can move inside, unlike these LED which just seem to go into the plastic houstig

Just think they are crap TBH, probably come from china costing 20p a set anyway, 1000% mark up before postage. Great light WHEN they work though

So I changed the fuse in them today as it had blown, put the oem bulbs back in and they still won't turn on, everything else, high/lo beam works etc just the sidelights won't work, starting to **** me off a bit :/
