Somethings up with vRS ... lack of power

Featured Replies

... idling high, poor mpg, no acceleration to speak of, noisy, taken into skoda, no fault codes showing, could it be MAF ?

All I know is no fun to drive at the moment.

:wonder:

Anyone had similar. I've been running jetex filter for last 12+ months, no other mods apart from PD 160 intake mod.

Just complete lack of boost, not like before ...

Help very much appreciated.

Is the jet x an oiled filter? If yes it could of messed up your Maf if you've over oiled it. This could cause your poor running.

why use a "performance" filter on a standard car ? i wouldnt have thought there will be any gains ?

Dumb I know, was going to get map but never got round to it ... apparently it doesn't make any difference even with a remap, something about diesels already have too much air anyway, I dunno ...

No smoke?

I do get lots of white smoke on startup, other wise bit of black on hard acceleration, does that mean anything?

Unplug your MAF and see how the cars idling. I had a issue on my MK4 golf 1.8T, poor maf caused rough idling, poor mpg, loss of power..

White smoke, that not mean your turbo is on its last legs? Or water in oil?

No, a bit of white smoke on start up is normal.

It means its not a boost pipe at least. I'd start with unplugging the maf as above. .

Smoke on start up is quite normal for the PD130 lumps, I've had an Ibiza FR and this vRS now and both of them have produced a puff of smoke on the morning start ups, especially on very cold frosty mornings.
