How do you turn the lights off?

Featured Replies

Ok, I can turn them off when I remove the ignition key but otherwise they are on.

Three recent events may or may not have a bearing.

1) two days ago I changed a number plate bulb (ignition key removed but battery connected)

2) left my 3 y old grandson not tied down in front passenger seat in car on drive alone for 45 secs with engine running.

3) noticed when light set to first pos to right of auto there is no indication of that on the display.

This morning I noticed lights were on front & rear inc number plate lights, light switch set to off, daytime drive lights set to off, engine running.

Drove car for half an hour. Still the same then.

The little fella had succeeded in opening both sun visor mirrors and their lights and one rear window partially down. He could have wildly run the light switch through all the options a few times for good measure.

It's a 2009 ((MY 2010) 170 CR Elegance DSG. 33k miles.

Any help appreciated.

The first position after AUTO is side lights but agree there is no indication of the fact on the dashboard.

If the switch is definately turned far left and AUTO is off, but your lights are still on then there sounds like there could be a problem.

My AUTO light sensitivity does play games all year round, switching the lights on when I don't need them and vice versa. Also sometimes when I unlock the car, the lights don't come on (leaving home) but then when I start the lights DO come on!

Coops thanks for the nod on the side lights, when things are going ape you start to see probs that aren't and yes I suspect it's the poss attack on the light switch dial that has upset things but I've no real knowledge of these things. I'm hoping that it will just right itself in time unless someone can give me a quick fix. Cheers Robert.

I had a similar issue with mine, couldn't switch lights off, complained to dealer who set them to normal operation but I forgot to ask what they had done. Then the other day I was looking throught the settings on the MFD and noticed that the DRL setting on my Superb switches the dipped beam on and off and also switches the rear lights on and when DRL is on I can't switch the lights off, so I'm guessing this is all it was.

Thanks HTH, I had the daytime driving light setting to 'off' as usual, I tried activating them, then deactivating them hoping that that would 'remind' the system to knock the lights out but to no avail.

I ignored the car for a couple of days, then gave it a few stern looks, then spoke lovingly to my little Fabia, that seemed to do the trick. I took her out and she behaved herself, the lights back working normally.

I'll use this not so quick fix in future if she starts to play up.

Cheers R.
