Noisy rear suspension

Featured Replies

At 9 months from new my Fabia VRS started grinding noise from the rear suspension when going over rough road/speed bumps.

BUT the peculiar thing is that it only does it in rain and wet conditions. In the dry there is no noise at all.

Dealer has looked at it 3 times and can't find anything wrong, even though I took a technician out with me in the rain and he heard the problem .

The car is with the dealer for the whole of next week and they intend to involve Skoda.

Anybody heard anything like this before?

Could be rear bushes (big round rubber thingys that mount rear axle beam to to body) making noise when wet. A squirt of lithium spray or other grease into the holes in rubber bushes may be all it takes to fix. They are known to make noise from time to time.

Worth checking also exhaust mounts and clamps, in case noise was not made by suspension.

Mine does this too when wet and has done from new. Its going for its first service soon so will get the dealer to add some lube to the bushings

As someone else said , probably bushes if it's only when wet.. Push for replacements :)

Mine makes an awful racket going over bumps too! Brought the service guy in my local Skoda dealer out for a drive to show him and sure enough it didn't make the noise. I must check to see now if it only happens on damp/wet days.

If you get a squeak its the rubber trim around the boot - I took mine in thinking suspension and they lubed my rubber and no noise anymore!!
