good news and bad news

Featured Replies

Joy! A call from the Dealer to say that the new (well, replacement) one has arrived. Much quicker than I expected, thoughts start going through my mind about rescheduling things, taking the winter shoes off the current one, etc when I realise that he'd said that there is good news (its arrived) and bad news....

Bad news was that delivery driver had pranged it. :(

Negotiations commencing on what to do about it. Dealer doing his best to explore options but SWMBO v unhappy and says reject it regardless of any offered repairs.

Ho hum,we'll see what next week brings

What was the damage exactly? Sorry to hear the experience has been overshadowed slightly. :(

That's really gutting! But I have to admit if this happens to mine I won't accept it.

Hope they sort something for you.

haven't seen exactly what happened but talking body shop, changing bits, etc. (so not just a little scratch)

i heard that many new cars are damaged when getting offloaded/ on loaded and that when they paint/fill the damage a special scanner can still revile if it has its original paintwork, i nearly bought a brand new 1.6 tdi pacific blue SE spec hatchback Octavia last year that had not even been registered but had been scraped when going onto a lorry it wasn't that bad and was only on the offside bottom rear and front door and would have been a easy repair for my local body shop and they only wanted £13,500 for it

I'd reject it, but that's your choice. I guess it's been a long wait.

I'd look at it before, then after repair; then re-negotiate a hefty discount (depending on the "before" level being not too hefty).

Dealer calls this morning after having had a discussion with somebody at Skoda UK who actually has authority to make a decision... they've oftered me an SE+ (I'd ordered an SE with some options), I won't get all the options I ordered , but the important ones will be there (lumber supports - getting creaky in my old age, spare tyre - parnoid and don't trust the gunk). Different colour, but a nice one (Shark Blue). It's currently sitting the other side of the water, so should be with me in a couple of weeks.

Decent offer rapidly made and one which we've accepted.

So, provided we have a careful delivery driver this time it should be a happy ending.

P.S. This also shows me that there is value in doing the PeX with the Dealer as I don't have worries about timing trying to sell the current SM.

Glad to hear what sounds a positive outcome from initial disappointment, enjoy the new motor when she arrives :)

Great outcome ,I bet your well pleased. (and relieved)

Nice colour better spec can't go wrong

+1 on the.above. At least the dealer was completely upfront about it which says alot. The SE+ will be worth more come trade in too so all in all a decent result.
