  1. It went into the Dealer today, fortunately we have a warranty and that will cover a replacement. Trouble is 8 weekish wait for a replacement unit to be delivered.
  2. Sadly mine seems to be suffering from the same issue. Does anyone have experience of a good equivalent of Satnav systems based in the southwest? Or does Satnav offer a postal service? If so, how does on get the current unit out of the dashboard?
  3. Sorry for the delay in updating. The short version is: it was done under warranty, so I'm none the wiser on how I would have done it myself The slightly longer version is: I called Sokda UK on this to try to get some guidance whether it would be covered by the warranty, they said that a Dealer would need to assess and report to Skoda UK before a decision would be taken. I had a service coming up so I had the 'assessment' done whilst it was in for the service. I'd already got the part, so was relieved for find that there was no bill. Given what the spares man at the first Dealer had said about it being a fiddly job I guess that the labour charge could have been significant. I'm still curious to know the 'official' way to do this.
  4. I thought about both of the above. Looking at the video the design is quite different from the Yeti - the clip arrangement is definately different and because it is metal rather than plastic I doing think that the snap it off and push down would work (most likely you could snap the top off but then be stuck with the rest of the fitting in situ. On twist and pull, I gently tried that, but no joy. I think unlike light bulbs with are designed to be replaced by the end user, the head restraint fittings are 'life time' / 'not user serviceable', As the car is still under warranty I've book edit into my Dealer saying I believe this is a covered by warranty and not 'wear and tear'. They won't opine either way untill they get is and talk to Skoda UK. In the worst case I'm going to have an expensive labour bill to fit a £7 part, in the best case, I'll just have paid out for the part. Fingers crossed. I'll let you know later in the month what happens.
  5. Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately the spiked clip isn't squeezy - I looked closely on the replacement part and it is rock solid with no obvious 'release'. Getting inside the seat doesn't look easy either. I'm wondering if this would a valid warranty claim. It clearly isn't a wear and tear item and isn't purely cosmetic. I guess the worst Skoda could say is "no"
  6. Somehow the little clip that you squeeze to adjust the driver's head restraint (yes, I know not a "head rest") has disappeared. The first attached photo shows what I'm talking about. I spoke with the friendly parts / service person at Murray Skoda and ordered up the replacement bit (you can not buy the clip, you have to buy the entire barrel assembly). The chap warned me that it was a fiddly job. The replacement bit arrived (photos attached) and you can see there there is a 'spike' that is clearly intended to stop the barrel from coming out when attempts to raise the head restraint without squeezing the release clip happen. Having looked closely at the replacement part there doesn't seem to be an easy option of just taking the clip from the new part and inserting it into the original. So, how do I get inside the seat to do the necessary (and what is "the necessary") or is it one of those jobs that really needs to be done by the Dealer's Service Dept? There are two drivers for the car and we're not both the same height, so the "just ignore it" option isn't really what we want to do? This is a FL TSi 1.2 SE in case it makes any difference. Suggestions?
  7. Likewise transcity. Note they will do a pick up / drop off which avoids the small site issue
  8. Collected the new 1.2 TSI Drive SE today from Transcity, we'd waited for 17 plate and let the rush die down back delaying a further week for the pick up. We'd ordered a few more options than previously so it was good that Reece gave us a comphrehensive hand over. Starting to get my head around SmartLink - that looks useful, SmartGate I'm not so sure about - time will tell on that one. Heated seats will be a new experience for us. This will be our third Yeti. We has be bizarre experience when we noticed that parked up just next to the new one was the very first one! The first one clearly had been driven and used, but it is strange to suddenly meet up with an old friend.
  9. Well, I went and had the conversation with the Dealer, bought an TSI 1.2 SE L Drive with a few bells and whistles, PEX current 13 plate SE TSI 1.2 (checked with WBAC for a market estimate), took advantage of the interest free credit to get the £1000 contribution, then a bit more off as a result of testing the market via CarWow & DTD. In the end, its going to cost me around £10,900 to swap. Could I have done better on price, possibly; am I happy to be dealing with a local business that I've had the last two yetis through, definitely! Local dealer dealt with my woes with the panoramic sun roof on the first yeti well, and I've every expectation that if anything crops up on the new one they try to sort it. Now the wait begins...
  10. Thinking about my third one.... Anybody got as far as "the discussion" with a Dealer yet? What sort of discount on the RRP is on offer?
  11. It doesn't seem like three years since SM #2 came to live with us, but as we plan to hang onto this one, thoughts turn to extended warranties. I've done some basic checking and had quotes from Skoda themselves, Warranty Direct, Warrantywise and CLick4Warranty. I've tried to get like for like (car has 30k on the cliock now; assuming <15k a year; fsh at main dealer; comphrensive cover); zero or minimum excess. I'm surprised at the price difference. Skoda Extended Warranty (£241.78); Warranty Direct (£299); Warrantywise (£435)!; Click4Warranty (£278.66) I know the devil is in the detail and it is what happens when you need to claim that makes the difference. My questions to the forum: Have I missed off any good provider from my research Any practical experience of claims (good or bad) Gotchas Thanks
  12. Mine started sticking, it would free up with multiple lock / unlocks. I had dealer check / lubricate when servicing. Lesson, I think, is not to ignore an intermittent fault, not funny to be running on fumes and a locked fuel cap!
  13. enjoying the replacement Yeti, but missing the sun roof....
