Potential vrs owner

Featured Replies

Hey ladies and gents new to the forum,

Looking to buy an octy vrs soon and just trying to do my research before I commit to something that will bite me in the backside later on. Looking to buy 59 plate limited edition 2.0 tdi cr manual. Are there any owner of this model that could give me a run down of annual costs, real world mpg, potential problems other that general wear and tear and if you guys have had any problems with dealerships or managed to get repairs done at normal spanner handler garages. I've tried to trawl through a lot of the threads on here and it seems to be a bit of a shotgun spread trying to find the data I need and I thought it would be good to have a general feeling of ownership thread.

Mine has given me years of pleasure, local indie garages love it and it's well respected for durability and upgrade potential.

The only 'major' issue I had was an exhaust system sensor, and the local roads here destroying my wheels (I am now on 17" Riva hubs rather than the oem 18's)

I get an easy 50mpg on motorways, and higher if the going is slower. I have had 60+ on numerous occaisions.

Driving briskly around B roads or stop start short town traffic will give me mid 30's generally, but anything below 40 on a 20 minute journey is unusual.

Insurance is good (~£270) and the only upgrades you really might want to consider are rear bumper beepers and OEM Bluetooth kit (Model D or above) - I also have some sound deadening.

Erm, what else... When replacing front light bulbs, don't be tempted to not take the unit off! It's a piece of cake and can be done 5 mins each side after you realise how it's done!

Check tyre well for water built up (I have only had the occasional issue - the same is true on all cars really, being lowest point.)

Happy as larry with it and first car I have bought and kept after 3 years was up in 20 years of motoring! Do I really need a mark iii ?

Cheers for the info looking forward to test drive one and hopefully get chance to own one, you mentioned the exhaust sensor was that and expensive fix??

Nah, about £140 including parts and labour (And fault finding)

It was a big relief it wasn't the DPF!

Ah that's not too bad I can deal with that, I dare say I will have any dpf problems as I do stellar mileage a year 98% of which is motorway driving
