vRS FL Sat Nav/DAB roof antenna - normal or a problem?

Featured Replies

Just been cleaning my 2013 Blackline estate; whilst leathering it off noticed that the antenna pod for the GPS etc moves slightly to the point that when giving the stubby FM antenna a bit of a tweak towards the tailgate the rubber seal at the front section breaks contact from the roof slightly. Naturally some smalls amounts of water squeezed back out where the water had breached the seal.

Dont get me wrong it does not appear loose; rather the roof metal gives more than the antenna pod and it lifts its proverbial skirt just a little.

Before i get all paranoid wondered whether this is quite normal? My dads audi a5 has the sat nav antenna and his does something similar but not to the same degree (as its not as large and i dont think his roof flexes quite like mine).

Be interested to hear views; for info no water ingress has been noticed and all the fm, DAB and nav antennas appear to be working AOK.

Cheers

Get it looked at under warranty

It's normal, mine does the same.

I can only assume there is another seal around the actual hole.

Thank you JRW, good to know save me wasting time at the dealers to say the same. Not noticed any ingress into the car so guess the outer cap is just there as a tidy and to help weatherproof the physical antennas within.

My blackline does the same thing
