Airbag Light

Featured Replies

My airbag light has decided that it wants to stay on. Any recommendations on a VAG Indy garage in Swindon? Don't really want to go to Fish Bros as they charge an arm and a leg just for investigation!

Can't recommend a garage for you, but mine has done this twice, passenger seat airbag. Connector under the seat, both times light came on after I moved the seats to clean clean the carpets.

I am passing on the M4 on Friday at around 6pm I think - let me know if you want me to stop off somewhere near you and hook up VCDS.

As spud says, your airbag light is quite likely to be caused by connections on one of the seats.

In my car it is the connection under the drivers seat that very occasionally causes the light to come on. Unfortunately, when it comes to the airbag system, simply fixing the problem won't put out the light. It will stay on until it is cleared by VCDS or similar.

It might be worth getting a member with VCDS near you to read the code and clear the fault before you start shelling out for a garage to look at.

That would be very very kind. We are going away Saturday morning, but am willing to meet. Save me going to the garage and charging a fortune!

Oh and the connections are fine. Just need someone with a 'special computer' to clear it! (Hopefully!)

The connectors don't actually come apart when this particular fault occurs. The crimps in the connector plugs become loose.

The dealer fix is to actually cut the plugs off and solder all the wires together.......which I may do myself if the fault starts happening a lot!

Massive thanks to Jason for helping me out with this today!

What caused the fault?

Low voltage or something...

A weird one cos the battery is less than a year old.
