Door pre/post fl compability

Featured Replies

Hi.

Just got a dent in my front door, passenger (right hand) side on a 2010 Octavia. The workshop wants a lot of money to fix it, but I consider buying a used door in the same color (white) for a fraction of the price.

Problem is, I can't find a door newer than 2007, at least in my proximity.

So the question is, will a 2005-2009 front passenger door fit my 2010 Octavia? If so, do I have to dismantle the trimmings, mirror, etc, and will it fit when transfered?

Thanks in advance for any knowledge!

Yes the doors are the same including the door cards and exterior trim.

The only difference is the wing mirror (the FL has larger ones) but the fixing point on the door is the same so you should be able to swap it over.

Thank you for reply! I really liked your answer:)

I haven't checked the contacts, is it possible to keep the power windows and swap just the wing mirror? Or are the contacts different? I am not sure about the trim colour so maybe I have to take it all out anyways.

Also, could you please explain to me, what are the door cards? Maybe it is what I call the trim?? The panel on the inside of the door? English is not my native tounge...

Thanks again!

The electrical contacts, hinges, catches should all be the same.

If the new door comes complete with the electric window motor then even better as you won't need to swap them over and re-rivet the inner panel.

The door card is the interior trimmed door panel. The trim pattern is likely to be different so will need to swapped I'm guessing.

I'd make sure you have some spare clips that hold the trim on as they are easily broken when removed.
