Ka rear wheel bearing

Featured Replies

Is it common for them to fail without warning? Or would the circlip braking cause the symptoms?

Saw one of the neighbours at the flat struggling with a lil socket set with the wheel nuts on the Ka, wondered over to offer the use of the wheel wrench I carry and asked what the problem was. Turns out she was having dodgy handling and nearly crashed the car on the duel carriage way, got the trolley jack out of my car and jacked the driver's side rear wheel up. Basically it was loose and would move at least 3 or 4 inches in and out, took the hub nut cover off and a broken circlip fell out, the grease was really dry and gritty. Did try and tighten hub nut a lil more incase that was loose but was really tight. Recon she was really lucky not loosing the wheel!

Would the circlip be the problem or would it definitely be the bearing?

Sounds like the bearing has collapsed,i recently replaced both rear bearings on a ford puma, the hub nut is done up very tight & i had to press the old bearings out & the new ones in.It needs changing asap, sounds like it needs recovering to the garage too.

Thanks m8 that's exactly what I told her, know when you walk away and start doubting yourself? That's what I did lol. Gave her the number of my brilliant mechanic who won't rip her off.

Recon she really got ripped off when she brought the car as it's now black but has yellow bits showing all over and maroon in certain bits too lol
