torque settings for subframe bolts.

Featured Replies

ive got the following bolts to renew, so could someone possibly tell me the torque settings NM/Ft lbs for each part number.?

4XBOLT- N 908 235 03.
4xBOLT- N 907 583 02.
4XBOLT- N 906 630 02.

Ive also purchased this plate/washer but im unsure of its compatibility as ive only seen it used on golfs to help stop subframe movement. part number 7M3499349A.

Most garages will have a copy. You can usually find all torque settings that you need. Or have you considered a haynes manual? Or a workshop manual?

Autodata.!

either ive got the wrong website or someones been smoking crack lol,  im not paying just to find out the torque settings for a few bolts.

Are you not friendly with any garages who use autodata? Surely the passat manual has the settings in?

Sorted i think,  an indy garage helped me out in the end.

what ive got is -

N 908 235 03 = 110nm/81 ft lbs.

N 907 583 02 = 60nm

N 906 630 02 = depending on bolt/washer type, 30nm, 75nm or 25nm.    strange!

Rajsta, only just seen this post. Doubt it will be of much help, but check your PM.

I would do them FT, after all it holds a lot on, this is my old school method and I am sure there is a correct procedure and settings.

All bolts are now fitted.

But unfortunately its made no difference to the noise.

Its driving me crazy now,

Not one independent garage has managed to find the source of this vibration/buzzy feeling im getting through the floor/pedals/steering wheel/gearstick.

im confident this vibration is linked to the hollow/droany/warpy sound im getting while driving straight but louder everytime i turn left or right sharply.

Im also hearing a noise like birds chirping when i go over imperfections on the road.

Its got to be something suspension/drivetrain related.

The amount of parts ive replaced on the car are quite shocking.

I can honestly say its the most annoying car ive owned because ive tried my best to care for it but yet its not rewarding me back.

Gear box mount, dog bone bush? Steering rack bush?     I guess if you change anything else you will have anew car.

Both Gearbox mounts done.

Dog bone bush was done with the meyle HD kit.

ive not done the steering rack bush.!  where exactly is this located on the rack.?

it will be at the nearside end of the rack, undo the the two bolts on the bottom of the subframe at both ends and there is one bush that can be replaced, I doubt it will be that but worth a wiggle to see if makes a noise.
