Tyres warning light

Featured Replies

Tyre pressure set mormaly to 2.2 bar front and back.

Went from Midlands to Edinburgh to visit friends.

My brother axed me to call at my nephews flat to collect a few "bits and bobs" as he was leaving Edinburgh at the end of his uni course.

The bits and bobs turned out to be a car full plus a pet rat in a cage.

We refused the rat but just about got the rest of the stuff in.

We also had just filled up with petrol.

After a few mies the dash board "tyres warning" light came on.

I mistakenly thought this meant the tyres were under inflated for the heavy load we had.

Called in at the next services, consulted the chart inside the filler cap and put 2.7 in the front and 3.2 in the back, as per the chart.

Light remained on.

Rang my dealer who said the differential between front and back was too big, so put it to 2.4 all round.

Light remained on.

When I start up message "check tyres" comes up. Tyres look ok.

Question..... Is there some kind of sensor which measures the tread and warns you when it is getting low?

I think that once the Tyre Pressure Light has lit up you reset it with the button near the gear lever after sorting out what caused it to light up in the first place.  If this is wrong I am sure someone with more knowledge will be along shortly

correct

Check all tyres are to the desired pressure and then press the reset button

You should be resetting the system after checking the tyre pressures.
