breaking a mk2?

Featured Replies

have many people attempted breaking a mk2 octavia on here? much success or do bits hang around for ages?

the reason i ask; mine was in very good condition, but now has terminal rear end damage :(. i have been given the opportunity to keep the car at a percentage from what the insurance will pay out. but its tempting if it will keep others on the road.

it was a 2005 bkd (2.0 tdi) with 62k on the clock, candy white, full service history, every reciept from new etc. i feel its too good to go to waste

any body have any strong opinions either way? and do people need to cut repair pieces out of mk2's yet or are they still a bit young for that?

many thanks for any advice or input. i am spanner friendly and think i can strip it in a weekend.

Pity it's got rear end damage otherwise I would have the rear bumper off you to get you started.

I have very little experience of breaking Octavias or selling parts, but I suspect that unless you have something 'different' fitted, then you may struggle to sell quite a bit of it.

Things like Maxidot, jumbo box, black headlining, leather, etc are the sorts I'm thinking of.

If you have enough storage space then doors, bumpers, etc will be needed eventually by someone. Colour of vehicle and your location may be a determining factor.

As I said, very little experience so may be talking rubbish...

no rubbish in there to me! all opinions welcome.

sorry chap, rear bumper is destroyed as is the o/s rear quarter.

its more for repair parts for other cars. smashed headlight here and there, if someone has front end damage from a bump, engine blows up etc.

i have a garage to keep bits in, but wouldn't want them here for ever!!

on a side note, what site do people use to post pics up on here? didnt seem to like photo bucket when i was trying the other week.

You can add pictures direct to this site which has generally worked well for me.

However you may need to be a 'Freedom' member to get that benefit. You'll need to be a Freedom member anyway to sell.

(Apologies if you are: I can't see that easily on my phone)

thank you for the reply. im not a full member yet, but thats no problem. i fully intend on buying another octy.

although the child in me still says buy an old vw and fit the bkd in it!

my pics seemed to be to big to upload directly, only off an iphone - nothing special.
