Headlights turned on, no dash back lighting

Featured Replies

Anyone know if this is something related to S-Contact?  I have checked relevant fuses for lighting etc.

Basically if I turn the lights on, none of the switches / instrument cluster light up.  I do get the dipped beam light on the dash though. :)

Tried a search too. :D

Hmm the only time I've heard of it is when a fuse blew. Are bother he connectors in the back securely plugged in?

Wish I could find which fuse.  There is a thread with a similar symptom but it ended up being fixed at Skoda, and he never found out which fuse it was.  I have checked 4 and 16 already.  When I saw S-contact, I had a vague memory of this blowing during a radio install many moons ago.

Do your number plate lights work still? If not it may be fuse 36

I imagine it will be this, I realised my number plate lights had stopped working, and then was surprised to see my instrument lights didnt work either.

and all other back lighting for dash switches? :)  A/C panel, elec window switches. etc?

Only time I've had this with all my dash, heater controls and any other switches is when my number plate lights had blown and popped the fuse. Replaced the fuse and the blown number plate bulb and all was fine again. Fingers crossed urs is that simple to fix too!

Remind me to buy you a burger @ Combe!  Top work and it was indeed fuse 36, numberplate lights.  All sorted now

No worries jase :)

When my dash lights went off, my reg plates stopped working at the same time.

Was one of the cheap led reg plate lights blew and popped the fuse.

Well, it's about 10.5 months and I think fuse 36 has gone again!

Wondering what could be causing it to pop and the only thing I can think of is perhaps the dashcam is wired into that system somehow, but I am not too sure.  Oh well, not like I am short of fuses.....

Try wiring it to another fuse and see how that stays?

I can afford a 5A fuse every 10 months so not going to be worried until it starts lasting a much shorter time :D

it's not too bad at all I suppose! I usually keep an assortment in my toolbox which stays in the car most of the time!

Something is wrong if any fuse blows at all.

It would bug me if I couldn't pin it down what was doing it.

Good luck..

And I'd just put a 7.5 amp fuse in and see if it blows again.

Replaced with a 5 this morning. Stashed a 7.5 in the car ready for next time lol
