Anyone seen this yet? Looks a bit like a production version of the Sport concept albeit heavily toned down

Skoda has announced details of a StylePLUS version of its popular Rapid model.

Available in Candy White, Sprint Yellow, Corrida Red, Rally Green and Denim Blue, the special edition features black gloss detailing on its boot lid spoiler, rear-view mirrors and the bars on the front bumper and side doors, while the black and silver 17-inch ‘Ray’ alloy wheels complete the car’s exterior.

Moving inside, the satin black cabin receives sports seats, stainless steel pedals, a leather trimmed steering wheel, gear stick and handbrake. The steering wheel also features also a piano lacquer finish to match the piano black dashboard inserts. A radio/CD player comes as standard.

There are six engines to choose from; starting with the 55 kW (74 hp) 1.2 MPI, a 1.2 TSI developing either 63 kW (84 hp) or 77 kW (103 hp) (with six speed transmission), and a 90 kW (121 hp) 1.4 TSI (available with the DSG gearbox). Diesel fans get the choice of a 66 kW (89 hp) or 77 kW (103 hp) 1.6 TDI.

Available to order immediately, optional extras include the Amundsen+ navigation system with DAB function and xenon headlights and front fog lights with ‘cornering light’ function

Looks like they're trying to spruce up a few models - they need to add a sport model with a decent engine - 140/160 bhp engine, decent wheels and stuff.

No sign of any new engines on the horizon. I guess that will be facelift time if at all. 140BHP ACT engine would be good.

Not sure whether we'll get this Styleplus here in the UK - Xenons aren't even on our options list yet.

It looks like a standard Rapid with a few black details and Fabia VRS style wheels.

Only thing of interest in the xenons.

Think Skoda have been reading the Yellow Peril thread and pinched some ideas  :D

Hmm. Not sure what to make of that. It needed to have a new engine (or an option of 6 speed manual with the 1.4 tsi) to tempt in more buyers I reckon.

Don't really see it as that tbh, it's just a set of fancy wheels and some extra spec chucked in.

Pretty sure we will get a Rapid Sport eventually, a la Citigo Sport with front and rear bumper spoilers, snazzy interior e.t.c.,

I like the wheels, I enquired if I could get them at a discount when I bought my Rapid but it was a no-go.

I think the Rapid is pretty handsome and this isn't a bad attempt at a limited edition with some nice details - if Skoda UK take it, I wonder what the price would be?

There is a common theme here in terms of using black details from Monte Carlo Fabia to striped Citigo to the optional black roof and back tailgate combo on the Rapid Spaceback (also called SylePlus?).

These are the same wheels featured in press pics of the Spaceback.

I agree with Ad lav and RapidRonnie about engines. The 1.2tsi is great but when will the Rapid get the new generation version from the Octavia and hopefully the new 1.4 to go with it, with and/or without act?

I read in Autocar or Auto Express this week that the Spaceback will only have DSG on the TDI 90.

The Polo is available with the 1.4 act and I think is soon to have the new 1.0 tsi 90.

Didn't someone say they thought they had seen the new 1.2tsi in a Rapid? They must have been mistaken?

Don't expect any new engines until facelift time.

Still, the 1.2 tsi is a cracking engine in my book.

I have been a little scared by stories of problems with the chain cam (ironic because I was initially pleased about the change to a chain from belt on previous engines) but I suspect the supply problems have been sorted and there is always the great value warranty!

looks very much like a vw jetta

Now on the Skoda website here:

No new engines apart from the 90 PS diesel.

The Polish dealer document that was recently linked to on the Rapid Spaceback topic suggested that the Spaceback would be launched with a similar special edition (albeit including the panoramic sunroof too).

Thanks for the pics LeeCZ - much rather see 'real' pics than enhanced publicity ones.

Thecko - guessing USB+Aux are not standard with the lower grade stereo in Czech Republic - radio does not have piano black facing like we should get?

Here's one more: http://www.autosystem.cz/skoda-rapid-rapid-1-2tsi-ambition-akcni-model-style-plus-c168167

I'm not sure about the USB+Aux in CZ. I will be picking mine up in a few weeks with an Amundsen, so I'll find out then.

The rear wiper isn't even fitted as standard over here, even on top-end Octavias.

We saw a StylePlus a couple of weeks ago and it looks very nice. It basically includes 17" alloys, sports seats and pedals, a spoiler and xenon lights.

Thanks mate - what have you ordered LeeCZ?

A white 1.2 105 bhp Ambition Fresh, which is the SE in the UK I think.

I added 17" alloys, winter package, Amundsen, sports package, parking sensors, mobile interface, ABS, MSR etc., rear wiper (!), mats, spare wheel, rear centre armrest, cornering lights and immobiliser.

The total package with discount is around £11k, which is probably right for the average salary here. We have to wait around two months for it to be built due to the demand.

I'm definitely seeing more Rapids than new Octavias at the moment. The Octavias are very nice, but they cost around £4k more, which I just cannot justify.

LeeCZ - very nice car and great spec - it looks great in white. I actually prefer the look of the Rapid to the Octavia and the centre console is smaller and offers more space for legs. There is an amazing long term review of the 1.2 Rapid on autoforum cz where they also test the engine output. Sure you will love it and look forward to your comments when you finally take delivery. Best wishes, Andy.

Cheers. It's going to be a two month wait unfortunately.

I will post some pics once it arrives.

Haven't owned a car in the last 14 years (it's not necessary in London), so I am really looking forward to it.
