Sorry its the Amundsen. in a Octavia 3

But this is also with the Sd card i have music on dug out a old reader  and pluged it in to  a laptop this also wouldent read the card

but again fine when back in the car >

Is the card a non-HC SD card larger than 2GB?

What size are the SD cards?  I bet if you borrow a newer laptop or card reader your cards will work fine. Older readers can only read older SD-cards but can't read the newer (but physically identical) higher capacity SDHC or SDXC cards . Likewise the older readers only support the FAT16 filesystem where newer devices support FAT32 and NTFS. Sometimes it can be fixed by updating the firmware on the card reader or software driver.

If you pull out an SDcard while it is being written to then it can trash the card - but given what you have described that doesn't appear to be the problem here.
