Central lock issue

Featured Replies

My first post.

I bought myself a 98 octavia and after replacing blower fan, installing leather seats (from a jetta) and taping some wires for central locking and windows in the doors and replacing some lamps i have been allmost satisfied with it.

My problem is central locking, when i open the car from remote it opens all doors but when i close the doors only drivers, rear passangers and trunk closes.

When i quickly press close open close open close then all of the 5 locks get closed.

I have opened driver door panel and checked the big plug that goes to the thingy controlling windows etc. and it seemed to be ok. I have also checked all the wires that go in the rubber tubes from the door to the car chasis. I have also removed the central lock unit and remote control unit (witch was installed by previous owner) and observed them visually and the wires seemed to be ok.

I dont know is the problem in the central lock box or in the remote control box? The wiring should be ok because the locks work if you open, close, open, close repeatedly.

Also i have discovered that when i turn on the ignition i can hear a sound from the passangers door lock, i think that ignition is somehow connected to the opening pulse but have no idea how or why :D

I have considered buying a new remote set http://www.rclick.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=50&products_id=1112 and installing it myself, but if the problem is in the central lock box it wont be any help.

Oh and when i use the key to manually open the car it opens/closes the same doors as the remote. So is the problem in the central lock box and can it be fixed?

Thanks.
