Brake wear sensor

Featured Replies

Check brake pads has been coming up on my screen and beeping for the past month. The pads are fine. It seems someone has broke the cable off that connects to the car. The new cable costs £158 +vat as its combined with abs sensor.

I dont want to spend that sort of money when i can get along just fine without it. Is it possible to turn this function off in vag-com? Its an 04 v6tdi elegance

If you still have the bare wires in the wheel area you can just short them together, but I believe if you have VCDS you can change the soft coding of the instrument cluster to deactivate the warning.

It is a shame the chimp who worked on my car previous to me getting it didn't do that instead of butchering the cable inside the cabin (grr)

Thats what they had done originaly. But water got into it and it corroded. As i tried to repeat this the wire snapped right off. Was so brittle i wasnt suprised it broke off

So there is a connector in the car which connects to the ABS loom - on mine they've shorted this connector just behind the glovebox (you can probably trace it to the gland into the wheelarch).  But equally, if you have VCDS give that a go on the instrument cluster.  This is the connector here:
