A question for those of you that have a your car for more than a year and have the factory fitted Sat Nav, how do you get your updates are they quarterly or yearly and how are they supplied/installed. 

 

I was interested to read in the Sales Brochure for the New Octavia that updates are supplied for 3-years however there is no such information in the Fabia Sales Brochure.

 

I'm used to updating Garmin and TomTom devices, but at a loss as to how I'd get my car into the living room to connect it to my PC

Yes, it is an Amundsen and it does have a slot on the front for SD Cards, is this how they update it then?

 

So from what you are saying the dealer checks if you have the latest maps when they have your car in for any reason, I guess it would probably be best to make that a specific request to them at the time then!

I think on that version, yes.  The maps themselves I think are stored on the hard drive.

 

You need to check that you have free map updates, as I have heard others say that they have been asked for a quite a wodge of cash to update.

 

How and when you get the dealer to update is just personal preference.
